[To learn about the history of Burma-Shave, I recommend the online Eisner Museum Exhibit.]
As a child, my father told me stories about the Burma-Shave signs that captured the minds and hearts of many of his generation. In early 2003 I read Frank Rowsome Jr.'s book The Verse by the Side of the Road, which provides a detailed history of Burma-Shave, and includes the complete text of all of the original jingles. The cleverness of the Burma-Shave jingles led me to add them to my FrogCircus.org website.
Finally, in early 2005, I created this website, Burma-Shave.org, introducing several new features. Most importantly, I added the random jingle functionality, simplifying the process of randomly browsing the jingle archive. And to top it all off I created the Burma-Shave Shop, where you can purchase Burma-Shave t-shirts and bumper-stickers.
Now you know the history of this website. If you are not already familiar with the history of Burma-Shave, I recommend the online Eisner Museum Exhibit.
